Embraer Delivers 2000th E-Jet As Azul Takes E195-E2 Milestone Airframe

Embraer has crossed 2,000 E-Jet deliveries. Air Data News and Aviation24.be report the milestone airframe, an Embraer E195-E2, was handed to Brazilian carrier Azul Linhas Aéreas on 2 September 2026 at Embraer’s São José dos Campos facilities.

The same jet is Azul’s 50th second-generation E-Jet. Air Data News says the aircraft is owned by U.S. lessor Azorra and is the tenth E2 that lessor has placed with Azul. Embraer places the E-Jet family among the three largest commercial jet programs by deliveries, alongside the Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 families, after more than 22 years in service since the first delivery in 2004.

Program statistics in the same reporting chain put roughly 48 million flight hours and more than 2.85 billion passengers on the type, with more than 90 airlines in over 60 countries having operated E-Jets. Azul has taken 145 Embraer aircraft since launching in 2008 and was the E195-E2 launch customer — so the 2,000th delivery landing with Azul is both a manufacturer milestone and a customer fleet story.

Crossing 2,000 deliveries matters competitively: regional and small narrowbody markets have consolidated around a few families, and Embraer’s claim of joining the 737 and A320 delivery clubs underscores how far the E-Jet line has scaled beyond its early regional-jet positioning. The E2 generation’s larger E195-E2 variant, in particular, blurs the line between regional and mainline narrowbody flying on thin international and dense domestic Brazilian sectors — including Azul’s own Montevideo and domestic trunk work.

Azorra’s continuing placements with Azul also show lessor appetite for E2 metal even as airlines balance Airbus and Boeing narrowbody orders. A commemorative handoff does not by itself disclose remaining firm-order tallies or Azul’s next delivery month, so those figures stay outside this fact-gate.

Manufacturer milestones rarely land on a random airline. Azul as E195-E2 launch customer and recipient of the 2,000th E-Jet ties Brazil’s largest Embraer operator to Embraer’s delivery narrative. Azorra owning the commemorative frame, and placing its tenth E2 with Azul, also shows how lessor capital underwrites E2 growth when airlines prefer operating leases over owned metal. That financing channel matters as much as the factory ceremony for how quickly Azul can keep taking E2s.

Embraer’s comparison to the Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 delivery clubs is a competitive claim about scale after 22-plus years, not a statement that E-Jets match those families in absolute annual output. Still, 2,000 deliveries, ~48 million flight hours, and 2.85 billion passengers across 90-plus airlines illustrate a mature global footprint from regional feeders to thicker E2 trunk flying. Azul’s 145 Embraer aircraft since 2008 make it a showcase fleet for that evolution. This piece still does not invent remaining firm-order backlogs or Azul’s next serial-number delivery date beyond the published 2 September milestone.

For Aviation Shop readers the hard facts are the 2 September 2026 handoff, the 2,000th E-Jet delivery, E195-E2 type, Azul as recipient, Azul’s 50th E2, and Azorra ownership of the milestone airframe. Aviation Shop will watch Azul’s next E2 intake cadence after the commemorative delivery.
