Riyadh Air has put Italy on the reservation map. AeroRoutes reported that on Monday, September 21, 2026, the Saudi startup opened bookings for its first Italian route: four-weekly Riyadh–Milan Malpensa flights on the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner from December 16, 2026.
The filed pattern is straightforward. RX519 is scheduled to leave Riyadh at 02:45 and arrive Malpensa at 07:05 on days other than Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. The return RX520 departs Milan at 09:55 and reaches Riyadh at 17:15 on the same day-of-week mask. That morning Italy arrival and midday Saudi return is built for European day connections and for onward flying from Riyadh later the same evening.
Milan Malpensa is a logical first Italian gateway. The airport already concentrates long-haul leisure and corporate flows for northern Italy, and a four-weekly 787-9 gives Riyadh Air a premium twin-aisle product without the density of a daily bank. For the new carrier, each European city pair is also a brand statement as it builds out from the Riyadh hub toward a wider East–West network.
The Italy debut follows Riyadh Air’s earlier European footholds, including the thrice-weekly Riyadh–Manchester 787-9 service already in the market narrative. New-entrant schedules can still shift before the first flight, but the fact that reservations are open is the milestone: Italy is no longer only a rumor on Riyadh Air’s map.
