Air Algerie Resumes Algiers-Berlin In September 2026

Air Algerie will return to Berlin on 14 September 2026 with one weekly flight, its first service to the German capital since 2014. The route opens with a Boeing 737-800 before switching to the smaller 737-600 a week later.

Air Algerie is returning to the German capital. The Algerian flag carrier has scheduled a resumption of its Algiers – Berlin route from 14 September 2026, restoring a link the airline last operated more than a decade ago.

According to schedule filings reported by AeroRoutes, the carrier plans a single weekly round trip on the route. For the moment the service is only available for reservations through 19 October 2026, which suggests the initial listing is a limited seasonal block rather than a full year-round commitment. Airlines frequently open a short booking window on a returning route and extend it once demand and slot arrangements settle.

Schedule and aircraft

The planned timetable has flight AH2072 leaving Algiers at 14:00 and arriving in Berlin at 18:00. The return, AH2073, departs Berlin at 19:00 and lands back in Algiers at 21:05. That produces a tight turnaround of roughly one hour on the ground in Germany, a pattern typical of a once-weekly rotation flown by a single aircraft out of the home base.

Equipment changes almost immediately after launch. The first flight on 14 September 2026 is scheduled with a Boeing 737-800, while the operation switches to the smaller Boeing 737-600 from 21 September 2026. Air Algerie is one of the few carriers still flying the 737-600, the shortest and least-produced member of the 737 Next Generation family, and it has long used the type on thinner routes where a full 737-800 cabin would be difficult to fill. Downgauging a new route to the -600 after the opening flight is a straightforward way to protect load factors on a service that is still building recognition.

A route more than a decade dormant

Air Algerie previously served Algiers – Berlin until the summer of 2014, when the German end of the route was at Berlin Schoenefeld. The airport landscape there has changed completely in the intervening years: Schoenefeld and Tegel have both been folded into Berlin Brandenburg Airport, which consolidated the city's commercial traffic in 2020. The returning service therefore places Air Algerie into a single unified Berlin hub rather than the split airport system it left behind.

Berlin is home to a substantial North African diaspora, and Germany more broadly is one of the larger European markets for Algerian visiting-friends-and-relatives traffic. Air Algerie already serves Frankfurt, and adding a Berlin frequency gives passengers in eastern Germany an alternative to connecting over other European hubs or backtracking to Frankfurt.

Part of a broader network push

The Berlin resumption lands in the same schedule update in which Air Algerie has been opening reservations for additional destinations for the Northern winter 2026/27 season, including new African points. The carrier has spent the past several years working to rebuild a network that contracted sharply during the pandemic, alongside a fleet renewal programme that has brought newer Boeing narrowbodies into service.

As with any newly filed schedule, the Berlin plan remains subject to change. Frequencies, aircraft assignment and the booking window can all be revised before the first departure, and the current 19 October 2026 end date is likely to move once the airline finalises its winter programme.
