Saudia has filed an extensive set of international schedule changes for the Northern Hemisphere winter 2026/27 season, with the headline addition a new long, thin route from its Jeddah base to Abuja, Nigeria, operated by the Airbus A321XLR. The filing was reported by AeroRoutes on August 10, 2026.
According to the schedule data, Jeddah–Abuja is due to launch on December 1, 2026, with three weekly flights, rising to four weekly between February 10 and March 9, 2027. The service is scheduled as SV337, departing Jeddah at 08:45 and arriving in Abuja at 13:05, with the return SV336 leaving Abuja at 14:40 and reaching Jeddah at 21:55. As of August 9, 2026, some of the added frequencies were not yet available for reservations, a common feature of tentative winter filings that firm up closer to the season.
The choice of the A321XLR for the route is telling. The extra-long-range version of the A321neo family is designed precisely for this kind of mission — a route that generates enough demand to justify frequent service but not necessarily a widebody. By deploying the narrowbody, Saudia can open or strengthen a market like Abuja with lower trip costs and more flexible frequencies than a larger jet would allow.
Abuja is only part of a broader winter reshuffle. AeroRoutes lists a series of frequency adjustments across Saudia's international map. On the Jeddah–Alexandria route, the carrier has tentatively pencilled in an increase from 10 to 12 weekly flights between February 12 and March 7, 2027, using A320 and A321neo equipment. Jeddah–Algiers is set to see 13 of 15 planned weekly flights open for booking from October 25, 2026, flown by the Boeing 777-300ER.
European services also feature. From October 26, 2026, Saudia has tentatively scheduled an increase on Jeddah–Amsterdam from four to five weekly flights, operated by the Boeing 787-9 and 787-10, though the additional frequency was not yet available for reservations at the time of filing. The pattern across these changes points to a carrier fine-tuning capacity market by market rather than making sweeping cuts or additions.
Winter schedule filings like this one offer an early window into an airline's commercial priorities for the season ahead. They are, however, provisional by nature: frequencies, aircraft types and on-sale dates can shift as demand signals sharpen and as the airline balances its fleet across a large and varied route network stretching from West Africa to Western Europe.
For now, the standout is the Abuja launch, which extends Saudia's reach in West Africa and puts the A321XLR to work on exactly the kind of range-limited, demand-constrained route the aircraft was built to serve.
