Transavia France Puts Morocco at the Center of Its Winter Schedule as Second-Largest Market

Transavia France has carried more than 1.7 million passengers between France and Morocco since January 2026, a 21 percent increase on the prior year, making the kingdom its second-largest market by passengers behind Spain, Air Journal reported on September 27 citing Moroccan outlets Le Desk and Bladi. For winter 2026–2027 the low-cost carrier plans more than 611,000 seats on its Moroccan lines, with capacity up about 8 percent versus the previous winter.

Nearly 500,000 passengers flew Transavia France to Morocco during the summer 2026 peak, up 20 percent from summer 2025. Paris-Orly–Marrakech posted a 97 percent load factor and led sales into the country with more than 84,000 seats sold, ahead of Orly–Agadir at 66,000 and Orly–Oujda at 48,000. The winter program can reach as many as 160 weekly flights across 25 routes, linking eleven Moroccan airports with nine French airports.

Transavia will keep Nantes–Tangier and Lyon–Fez flying into winter after operating them in summer. From Paris-Orly it plans seven additional weekly flights to Casablanca and six additional weekly flights to Rabat compared with winter 2025–2026. Julien Mallard, Transavia France's deputy commercial director, said Morocco holds a special place in the network and that this year's results confirm the destination's pull with customers, according to remarks carried by Le Desk.

The winter build continues a partnership renewed in May 2025 with Morocco's national tourism office, when Transavia announced fourteen new lines for winter 2025–2026. That earlier wave added Marrakech flying from Toulouse, Lille, Biarritz and Deauville; Agadir from Montpellier, Toulouse, Lille, Brest and Rennes; and Dakhla from Marseille and Bordeaux, plus first Morocco–Europe leisure pairs such as Marrakech–Berlin, Marrakech–Venice and Agadir–Berlin. The 2026–2027 winter step is a more moderate 8 percent capacity lift on top of that base.

Transavia France operates Airbus A320-family aircraft on the Morocco network, including A320neo deliveries entering the fleet. The Orly–Marrakech and Orly–Agadir banks remain the commercial core, while the provincial French origins and secondary Moroccan cities fill leisure and visiting-friends peaks around school holidays. Extending Nantes–Tangier and Lyon–Fez through winter reduces the usual seasonal reset that low-cost carriers often apply to thinner Maghreb pairs.

For Moroccan tourism authorities, the 1.7 million year-to-date passengers and 97 percent Orly–Marrakech summer load factor are evidence that French low-cost capacity is still absorbing demand even after a heavy 2025–2026 expansion. For Transavia, Morocco now sits clearly behind only Spain in passenger volume, which shapes how the airline allocates winter seats when Spanish leisure markets soften.

Schedules remain subject to slot and fleet assignments; travelers should confirm live frequencies in Transavia's booking system. The published winter plan, however, already locks in a denser Casablanca and Rabat presence from Orly and keeps two summer provincial pairs alive—an unusual winter retention pattern that shows how far the Morocco franchise has moved inside Transavia France's network.
