Allegiant Adds 9 New Routes From February 2027

Allegiant Air has opened reservations for nine new routes scheduled to begin in February 2027, extending the ultra-low-cost carrier's leisure network with a batch of services concentrated on Florida and the northeastern United States.

According to schedule data published by AeroRoutes, the airline opened sales for the new routes this week. Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood gains two: a once-weekly service to Portsmouth from 20 February to 1 May 2027, and a once-weekly service to Providence from 13 February to 24 April 2027, both listed with the Boeing 737 MAX 8-200.

Orlando picks up a twice-weekly service to Cincinnati from 12 February 2027, operated with the Airbus A320. Orlando Sanford is the busiest of the new additions with three routes: Boston, once weekly from 13 February to 24 April 2027 on the 737 MAX 8-200; Grand Forks, twice weekly from 10 February to 17 April 2027 on a mix of 737 MAX 8-200, A319 and A320 equipment; and Providence, once weekly from 13 February to 25 April 2027 on the A319.

Three further routes complete the list. Punta Gorda-Boston and St. Petersburg/Clearwater-Boston are each scheduled once weekly from 13 February to 24 April 2027 with the A319, while Sarasota-Providence is listed once weekly from 13 February to 24 April 2027 with the A320.

Classic Allegiant network building

The shape of the announcement is characteristic of Allegiant's model. Almost every route is seasonal, limited to the late-winter and spring window, and most operate once or twice a week rather than daily. That low frequency is deliberate: it lets the airline concentrate flying on the days when leisure demand is strongest, keeps aircraft utilisation high across a wide network of thin city pairs, and avoids the fixed cost of building a full daily operation in markets that could not support one.

The destinations also fit the pattern. Allegiant has built its business on connecting smaller northern cities directly to warm-weather leisure markets, bypassing the connecting hubs that legacy carriers use. Portsmouth, Providence, Grand Forks and Boston feeding Florida airports including Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, Orlando Sanford, Punta Gorda, St. Petersburg/Clearwater and Sarasota is a textbook example of that strategy.

A mixed Airbus and Boeing fleet

The equipment listed across the nine routes reflects Allegiant's transitional fleet. The carrier operates a large Airbus A319 and A320 fleet alongside the Boeing 737 MAX 8-200, the high-density variant of the MAX family. Assigning the larger MAX 8-200 to some routes and the smaller A319 to others lets the airline size capacity to each individual market, which matters more in a network of once-weekly seasonal services than it would in a daily hub operation.

Schedules remain subject to change ahead of the season, as is normal for filings this far in advance.
