Contour Adds Muscle Shoals–Dallas/Fort Worth Flights on Embraer ERJ-135

Contour Airlines is reallocating part of its Northwest Alabama flying to put Muscle Shoals on a nonstop path to Dallas/Fort Worth. Airline Geeks reported that the independent regional carrier will begin Muscle Shoals–Dallas/Fort Worth service on November 12, 2026, operating five weekly flights while keeping daily Muscle Shoals–Charlotte service intact.

Contour said it is moving five weekly frequencies from the existing Muscle Shoals–Charlotte schedule onto the new Texas link. Travelers in the Shoals region will continue to have daily nonstop access to Charlotte Douglas International Airport and will gain a second hub connection into the American Airlines fortress at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport.

The published pattern is asymmetric across the week. Service from Muscle Shoals to Dallas/Fort Worth is planned for Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, while the return from Dallas to Muscle Shoals is set for Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays. That structure is typical of Contour’s small-city Embraer operation, which prioritizes business and visiting-friends-and-relatives peaks over a rigid same-day out-and-back on every weekday.

Contour currently serves Muscle Shoals only from Charlotte. Adding Dallas/Fort Worth gives northern Alabama a second large connecting bank without requiring passengers to backtrack through Nashville or Atlanta. For a market that depends on independent regional flying rather than mainline hubs, a second spoke is as important as frequency: it diversifies weather and irregular-operations risk and opens one-stop options across the American domestic and Latin America network.

Contour’s fleet is built around Embraer ERJ-135 regional jets, the type shown in the Airline Geeks report’s accompanying photography. The 30-seat class aircraft fits Muscle Shoals’ traffic base better than a larger CRJ or E-Jet and keeps trip costs aligned with Essential Air Service–style economics even when the route is sold as a commercial independent service.

Northwest Alabama Regional Airport has long relied on Charlotte as its primary airline link. Contour’s statement that daily Charlotte flying remains in place is therefore central: the Dallas addition is presented as growth, not a zero-sum swap that would strand Charlotte connections. Five weekly Texas flights are enough to create a usable business pattern without stripping the Carolina bank that local passengers already use for East Coast connections.

For Dallas/Fort Worth, Muscle Shoals is a thin spoke, but it fits the airport’s role as a collector of small southern cities that feed American’s banks. Contour’s model—independent branding, Embraer aircraft, and carefully chosen secondary cities—has already restored Williamsport–Charlotte flying earlier in the autumn schedule. Muscle Shoals–Dallas extends the same playbook westward and gives Texas corporate accounts another Alabama city they can reach without a Nashville detour.

Local economic developers have spent years arguing that Muscle Shoals needs more than a single hub. Automotive suppliers, tourism around the Tennessee River music heritage corridor, and university traffic all benefit when a second major airport appears on the board. Contour is not promising mainline frequencies; it is promising a practical Embraer bridge into one of the world’s busiest connecting machines.

Tickets and exact departure times will matter once they appear in reservation systems. Until then, the November 12 start date, the five-weekly cadence and the explicit Charlotte retention give airports, travel agents and local passengers a clear planning window for winter 2026/27.
