Emirates operated its first Dubai–Helsinki flight on October 1, 2026, adding Finland to its network with a daily Airbus A350 service. The airline said inaugural flight EK167 left Dubai at 07:30 with a near-full passenger and cargo load, carrying UAE and Finnish officials, business delegates and media on the first year-round nonstop between the two countries.
Emirates frames Helsinki as the only year-round direct link between the UAE and Finland. Through Dubai, the airline says passengers can connect with nearly 140 destinations across Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Australasia. That hub story is central: Helsinki is sold as much for onward Gulf and Asia connections as for point-to-point leisure and business traffic.
The route uses a 298-seat Airbus A350 configured with Business, Premium Economy and Economy cabins. Emirates highlighted Finnish-inspired catering for the launch, including dishes such as juniper-marinated salmon, seared venison with sage butter and blackberry sauce, and lingonberry marble cheesecake. The product pitch puts the newest widebody type in the Emirates fleet on a northern European city from day one rather than waiting for a retrofit cycle.
Emirates SkyCargo says each Helsinki flight can carry up to 16 tonnes of bellyhold freight. The airline expects two-way trade in pharmaceuticals, electronics, machinery, timber and perishables, noting that the UAE is already Finland’s largest trading partner in the Gulf. Cargo capacity is therefore part of the route case, not an afterthought.
The inaugural cabin list underscored the diplomatic weight Emirates put on the launch. Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer Adnan Kazim led the Emirates delegation, joined by SkyCargo commercial leadership and Finnish Ambassador Tuula Yrjölä. Civil aviation and government knowledge-exchange officials from both sides also flew the first sector, a signal that Helsinki is meant to support tourism, education, energy and digital-economy links as well as ordinary holiday traffic.
For Finland, a daily A350 replaces one-stop itineraries through other European or Gulf hubs with a single Dubai bank. For Emirates, Helsinki extends a Nordic footprint that already includes other seasonal or year-round northern European cities and gives the A350 another thin-to-medium long-haul market where a full A380 would be oversized.
Tickets are on sale through emirates.com, the Emirates app and travel agents. With the first flight already complete, the commercial question shifts from launch symbolism to winter load factors and how much connecting traffic Dubai can pour onto a daily Finland frequency. Emirates has set the bar high by calling the route the only year-round UAE–Finland nonstop; sustaining that claim will depend on keeping the A350 on the schedule through the dark Nordic winter.
October 1 therefore marks more than a new pin on the route map. It is Emirates’ first scheduled passenger service to Finland, flown on its newest widebody type, with a cargo product sized for industrial exports as well as tourists heading south to the Gulf and beyond. Airport teams in Helsinki and Dubai will now watch whether the daily A350 pattern holds once inaugural publicity fades into ordinary winter flying.
