EgyptAir has officially launched its highly anticipated nonstop service between Cairo International Airport and Los Angeles International Airport, marking the airline's return to the US West Coast after a two-decade absence.
The inaugural flight departed Cairo on May 23, 2026, operated by EgyptAir's flagship Airbus A350-900 aircraft. The route will operate three times weekly on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, covering a distance of 7,605 miles with a westbound block time of approximately 14 hours and 50 minutes.
The Cairo-Los Angeles route becomes the longest in EgyptAir's network and represents a major milestone in the carrier's transatlantic expansion strategy. The airline is deploying its most modern wide-body aircraft for the service, with the A350-900 featuring a premium three-class configuration.
EgyptAir has simultaneously launched nonstop service to Chicago O'Hare, further strengthening its North American presence. Both new routes are expected to serve a growing Egyptian diaspora community in the United States as well as tourism demand.
Industry analysts note that EgyptAir's West Coast return comes at a strategic time, as several Middle Eastern and African carriers seek to capitalize on strong demand for direct connections between Africa, the Middle East, and North America.
