Etihad Airways is simplifying its service between Abu Dhabi (AUH) and Taipei Taoyuan (TPE), switching the route to a single daily Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner for the Northern winter 2026/27 season. The change, filed in the airline's most recent schedule update, takes effect from October 25, 2026 and runs through March 27, 2027.
Under the revised plan, Etihad will operate one daily flight with the 787-9, replacing the previous arrangement of five weekly Boeing 787-10 services combined with two weekly 787-9 rotations. The move standardises the route on a single widebody sub-type and a consistent daily departure pattern.
According to the filed timetable, flight EY898 is scheduled to leave Abu Dhabi at 21:25 for a 09:00 next-day arrival in Taipei. The return leg, EY899, departs Taipei at 18:40 and arrives back in Abu Dhabi at 00:30, giving the overnight service a convenient morning arrival in Taiwan.
The shift from the larger 787-10 to the 787-9 represents a modest reduction in capacity per flight, as the 787-9 is the shorter of the two Dreamliner variants and typically seats fewer passengers. Standardising on one type across the week can, however, bring operational and scheduling benefits for the airline.
Etihad has also built a further seasonal trim into the route. A reduction from seven to five weekly flights remains in effect between December 13, 2026 and January 24, 2027, aligning capacity with the quieter mid-winter travel period before the daily pattern resumes.
Taipei is one of several East Asian markets served from Etihad's Abu Dhabi hub, and the adjustments reflect the carrier's ongoing effort to match aircraft size and frequency to seasonal demand. For passengers, the headline change is a predictable once-daily Dreamliner service for most of the winter timetable.
