Flair Airlines is adding a new sun destination for Toronto travellers this winter. The Canadian ultra-low-cost carrier will start nonstop flights between Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) and Puerto Plata's Gregorio Luperón International Airport (POP) in the Dominican Republic on 19 December 2026, using the Boeing 737 MAX 8.
Schedule and aircraft
The route is a new destination for the Edmonton-based airline. According to schedule data published by AeroRoutes and reported by Travelers Today, flight F8 2670 will depart Toronto at 9:10 a.m. Eastern Time and arrive in Puerto Plata at 2:30 p.m. local time, a block time of about five hours and 20 minutes. The return, F8 2671, will leave Puerto Plata at 3:30 p.m. and land back at Pearson at 6:55 p.m. Eastern Time.
Flair will fly the route twice weekly from 19 December. Between 5 January and 6 February 2027, frequency drops to once a week before returning to twice weekly. As with all airline schedules, the timetable is subject to change.
All flights are planned on the Boeing 737 MAX 8, the backbone of Flair's fleet. The aircraft's range comfortably covers the trip from southern Ontario to the north coast of the Dominican Republic, one of the most popular winter getaway markets for Canadian travellers.
Fares and the extras
"Canadians want more choice when they travel," Flair CEO Len Corrado said in announcing the service.
Flair is advertising starting fares of C$249 one way from Toronto to Puerto Plata before taxes and fees. As with most ultra-low-cost carriers, that base fare covers a seat and one small personal item no larger than 15 by 33 by 43 centimetres and no heavier than 7 kilograms.
A standard carry-on bag costs an additional C$49 to C$109 when added at booking and up to C$154 if paid at the gate. A checked bag of up to 23 kilograms costs C$69 to C$119 at booking, rising to C$164 at the gate, according to Flair's fee schedule as reported by Travelers Today. The airline dropped its lighter 10-kilogram checked-bag option on 15 September 2026, so travellers booking now can only choose the 23-kilogram allowance.
Those add-ons matter when comparing prices. Travelers Today found fares from other carriers on the Toronto–Puerto Plata market, including WestJet, Air Transat and Sunwing, starting around C$321 in an October search on Expedia. Depending on the carrier and fare class, those prices may or may not include bags, so travellers should add Flair's applicable fees before deciding which option is cheaper.
A crowded leisure market
Puerto Plata sits on the Dominican Republic's Atlantic coast and is a well-established resort and package-holiday destination for Canadians, particularly in the winter months. Flair's entry adds a low-cost, à la carte option to a route already served by Canadian leisure and network carriers.
The launch also continues Flair's recent push into new sun markets. Earlier this month the airline opened the first nonstop service between Canada and Guanajuato, Mexico, from Vancouver, another example of the carrier targeting leisure routes where it sees room for a low-fare competitor.
Passenger protections
Flair is subject to Canada's Air Passenger Protection Regulations, which cover delays, cancellations and denied boarding on flights departing Canada. In July 2025 the Canadian Transportation Agency fined the airline C$174,000 over two sets of violations from 2024, related to rebooking passengers on the next available flight and refunding unused tickets within 30 days. Travellers affected by future disruptions have recourse through the agency.
