Another piece of Spirit Airlines' former infrastructure has changed hands. The ultra-low-cost carrier's ex-headquarters in Dania Beach, Florida, an 8.3-acre corporate campus, has sold for $93.25 million through a federal bankruptcy auction, with the winning bid placed by an affiliate of the Boston-based hedge fund Hill City Capital.
The sale comes roughly 15 weeks after Spirit ceased all operations on May 2, 2026. When an airline shuts down, assets with direct operational value, such as aircraft and the airport slots they occupy, tend to be the first to move on. The headquarters campus is a different kind of asset, and its sale marks another step in winding down what remains of the company.
The price reflects how much values can fall once a business stops operating. The newly built campus had been valued at around $275 million, meaning the $93.25 million sale represents a discount of roughly 66% against that figure. According to Simple Flying, the winning offer was not the highest bid submitted for the property.
The transaction still requires sign-off from the bankruptcy court. A final approval hearing is scheduled for August 19, 2026. If approved, the new owner is expected to repurpose the site as a multi-tenant office park rather than a single-company headquarters.
Spirit's collapse removed one of the most recognizable ultra-low-cost brands in the United States, and the disposal of its property portfolio is part of the broader process of returning value to creditors. The headquarters deal is among the larger real-estate sales to emerge from that wind-down so far.
For the local market, the campus's next chapter is likely to look very different from its original purpose. Rather than housing a single airline's staff, the Dania Beach site is now set to be converted into leasable office space, closing the book on its brief life as an airline nerve center.
