JetBlue Grows Fort Lauderdale To Record 125 Daily Flights

JetBlue has launched its largest-ever schedule at Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood International Airport (FLL), switching on eight new nonstop routes with another six due to follow in the coming months. The expansion cements the South Florida airport as a central pillar of the carrier's network strategy.

The eight destinations that went live add daily nonstop service from Fort Lauderdale to Baltimore, Charlotte, Cleveland, Nashville, Detroit, Houston, Chicago and Ponce, Puerto Rico. The additions blend major domestic business markets with leisure-heavy connections, reflecting JetBlue's mixed appeal to both corporate and holiday travelers.

With the new flights in place, JetBlue now operates more than 125 daily departures to over 55 nonstop destinations from FLL — the busiest schedule the airline has ever flown at the airport. The carrier expects that figure to climb further, projecting roughly 150 daily flights from Fort Lauderdale this winter.

The growth has been rapid. JetBlue's daily departures from FLL are up more than 75% compared with the same period last year, and the airline says it has launched service to 24 additional nonstop destinations from the airport since December. Six more routes are still to come.

Those planned additions will extend JetBlue's Fort Lauderdale map both domestically and internationally, with new service to Indianapolis, San Diego and Columbus, Ohio, alongside international links to Cali and Barranquilla in Colombia and Caracas, Venezuela. The Latin American additions underline Fort Lauderdale's role as a gateway between the United States and the northern reaches of South America and the Caribbean.

Fort Lauderdale has long been one of JetBlue's focus cities, sitting alongside New York and Boston as an anchor of its route map. The airport's location in South Florida gives the airline a strong base for both point-to-point domestic flying and short- and medium-haul international routes into the Caribbean and Latin America, markets where JetBlue has steadily built its presence.

The build-up at FLL comes as JetBlue continues to reshape its network, concentrating flying where it sees the strongest demand and the clearest path to profitability. Adding frequencies and destinations at an established focus city lets the carrier strengthen connectivity for passengers while making fuller use of the aircraft and crews it already bases in the region.

JetBlue's Fort Lauderdale flying is operated by its Airbus narrow-body fleet, which spans the A320 family and the smaller A220. The mix gives the airline flexibility to match capacity to demand across a network that ranges from dense domestic trunk routes to thinner international city pairs.

For travelers in South Florida, the expansion means more nonstop choices and added competition on routes to the Midwest, the Northeast and Latin America. As the six remaining destinations come online later this year, JetBlue's Fort Lauderdale operation is set to grow larger still heading into the peak winter season.
