Kazakhstan's Scat Airlines is expanding its reach into Thailand. During the northern winter 2026/27 season the carrier plans to grow service on the Shymkent - Bangkok Suvarnabhumi route, according to schedule filings published by AeroRoutes.
From 25 October 2026, Scat will increase the route from two to three weekly flights. At the same time, the operating aircraft switches from the Boeing 737-800 to the newer Boeing 737 MAX 8, upgrading the equipment on the run between southern Kazakhstan and the Thai capital.
The build-up does not stop there. For the peak period of 30 December 2026 through 3 February 2027, the airline plans to push frequencies further to four weekly flights, capturing the heart of the winter holiday travel season when demand for Thailand's beaches and cities is at its strongest.
The flights operate as DV833 from Shymkent and DV834 on the return from Bangkok. Shymkent is one of Kazakhstan's largest cities, and a direct link to Bangkok gives travellers in the region a convenient gateway to one of Asia's most popular leisure destinations.
Switching to the Boeing 737 MAX 8 is a notable part of the plan. The MAX offers improved fuel efficiency and range over the 737-800 it replaces, characteristics that suit a long, thin route stretching from Central Asia to Southeast Asia. It also reflects the gradual modernisation of Scat's single-aisle fleet.
For Scat Airlines, steadily increasing frequencies and upgrading aircraft on a leisure route like Shymkent - Bangkok points to confidence in Kazakhstan-Thailand demand heading into the winter season, with the schedule scaling up as the peak approaches.
