Southwest Adds 11 Summer 2027 Routes From Austin, Nashville and San Diego

Southwest Airlines is lining up its largest summer schedule yet for 2027, with an 11-route expansion that leans hard on Austin, Nashville and San Diego, according to reports from AirlineGeeks and The Points Guy dated October 2, 2026.

Austin-Bergstrom International Airport said Southwest will add international weekend flights to Nassau, Bahamas; Punta Cana, Dominican Republic; and Liberia (Guanacaste), Costa Rica, starting June 3, 2027, and running through August 2. Those Caribbean and Central America links are scheduled twice weekly on Saturdays and Sundays in the peak summer window.

Domestic growth from Austin is just as broad. New or returning service covers Savannah, Georgia; Bozeman, Montana; Sarasota, Florida; and a daily seasonal restart to Portland, Oregon, last flown in 2018. The Points Guy listed Austin–Savannah as weekend flying and noted that Austin–Bozeman is planned as Saturday-only service in the same June–August band. Austin–Sarasota returns as seasonal Saturday flying last operated in 2023.

Nashville picks up three new routes in the same summer package: Boise, Idaho; Nassau; and Providenciales in Turks and Caicos. Southwest also said it will bring back seasonal Nashville–Bozeman flying operated in 2026. San Diego adds a new seasonal Sunday link to Oklahoma City and returns service toward Bozeman, Pittsburgh and Columbus, Ohio, according to The Points Guy’s rundown of the carrier’s summer β€œroute drop.”

Airport leadership framed the Austin international adds as a connectivity win for Central Texas. β€œThese new international routes to the Caribbean and Central America, along with expanded domestic service, strengthen our region’s connectivity and provide more options for both business and leisure travelers,” Austin-Bergstrom CEO Ghizlane Badawi said in the airport release quoted by AirlineGeeks.

Southwest expects peak-day Austin departures around 143 next summer, its largest Austin schedule on record, while Nashville could see as many as 220 daily flights. Both cities are also building Southwest’s first airport lounges, a detail The Points Guy tied to the carrier’s network concentration there.

Nine of the eleven routes are flights Southwest has never offered before, per The Points Guy. The airline also confirmed winter returns from Austin to Puerto Vallarta and San Juan, and a previously announced Austin–San JosΓ©, Costa Rica, launch on March 13, 2027, sits outside the summer weekend package but underscores the same Central America push.

Equipment was not broken out route-by-route in the October 2 coverage; Southwest’s network flying remains Boeing 737-centric, including MAX family jets on many leisure and domestic sectors. Travelers should treat June 3–August 2, 2027, as the published summer operating window and expect weekend-only frequencies on most of the brand-new international and leisure domestic links.

AirlineGeeks and The Points Guy independently reported the Austin-centered international trio and the Nashville island adds on October 2. No conflicting Southwest denial has appeared. Schedules remain subject to change before tickets open fully across every city pair.

For network planners watching low-cost competition in Texas, the package is a clear answer to Delta’s rapid Austin build-out: Southwest is defending its AUS lead with leisure metal to the Caribbean and Central America while knitting Nashville into the same sun-and-mountains pattern. Oklahoma City from San Diego and Boise from Nashville fill thinner domestic holes rather than chasing coastal densification alone.
