Vietnamese low-cost carrier Vietjet Air is launching nonstop flights between Da Nang and Novosibirsk for the 2026 summer season, deepening the airline's growing network between Vietnam and Russia. The new route will operate from May 20 through October 24 using Airbus A330 widebody aircraft configured for up to 377 passengers in a high-density layout.

The seasonal service connects Da Nang International Airport on Vietnam's central coast with Tolmachevo International Airport, the largest aviation gateway in Siberia. Da Nang has become one of the most popular leisure destinations in Southeast Asia for Russian travellers, thanks to its beaches, golf resorts and proximity to the UNESCO-listed Hoi An old town.

Filling a Vietnam–Russia Niche

Vietjet has positioned itself as the leading carrier on the Vietnam–Russia leisure corridor, taking advantage of strong outbound Russian demand for tropical winter and summer beach destinations. With many traditional European leisure routes still constrained for Russian travellers due to airspace and sanctions issues, Southeast Asia and especially Vietnam have become primary alternatives.

The decision to deploy the A330 rather than the A321neo reflects both the distance involved and the size of the leisure market, which typically books in family-sized groups. The high-density configuration also helps Vietjet keep base fares low, in line with its ultra-low-cost model.

A Wider Russia Push

The Da Nang–Novosibirsk service joins a growing list of Vietjet routes between Vietnam and Russia, which now includes seasonal links from several Russian cities to Cam Ranh, Phu Quoc and Ho Chi Minh City. Together, these routes have helped position Vietjet as the de facto Russian leisure airline of Vietnam, in a market where competition has thinned considerably since 2022.

For Da Nang, the new flights are also a significant boost to the airport's international profile. The city's tourism authority has been actively courting medium-haul international carriers, and a long-haul widebody service from Siberia underscores the destination's growing pull beyond traditional source markets in China, South Korea and Japan.

Looking Ahead

Vietjet has not yet confirmed whether the Da Nang–Novosibirsk route could become year-round in the future, but executives have previously suggested that strong seasonal performance often leads to extended schedules. If demand holds through the 2026 summer, the route could become a permanent feature of Vietjet's transcontinental map and reinforce Da Nang's position as one of Asia's busiest leisure gateways.
