Vietnamese low-cost carrier VietJet Air is adding the Philippine city of Cebu to its network, with plans to begin service from November 2026 in what will be its second destination in the country.
Newly filed schedules show VietJet will link Cebu with both of its principal Vietnamese bases, operating three weekly flights from Hanoi and three weekly flights from Ho Chi Minh City. Both routes are due to launch on 10 November 2026 and will be flown with Airbus A321 narrowbody aircraft.
The timetable positions the Hanoi service as an early-morning departure, while the Ho Chi Minh City rotation operates overnight, giving the airline coverage from both northern and southern Vietnam into the central Philippines. Three weekly frequencies on each pairing provide a measured entry into the market that VietJet can build on if demand supports it.
Cebu is one of the Philippines' most popular leisure and business gateways, serving as the main hub for the central Visayas region and a springboard to the country's beach and island destinations. Adding the city gives VietJet a second Philippine anchor and opens up point-to-point traffic as well as connections over its Vietnamese hubs.
The expansion fits VietJet's wider strategy of rapid intra-Asian growth built around the Airbus A320 family. The carrier has grown quickly across Southeast Asia and North Asia in recent years, using high-frequency, low-cost service to stimulate demand on new city pairs. The A321, the largest member of the A320 family, offers additional seats and range over the baseline A320, making it well suited to international sectors of this length.
For travellers, the new flights add fresh competition and more direct options between Vietnam and the central Philippines from late 2026, with onward connectivity available over Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. VietJet has not detailed any further frequency increases, but a three-times-weekly launch on each route leaves room to grow should the market respond.
