Aeroflot Lifts Moscow-Shanghai To 9 Weekly In NW26

Aeroflot has filed additional Moscow Sheremetyevo to Shanghai Pudong flights for part of the northern winter 2026/27 season, lifting the route from seven to nine weekly Boeing 777-300ER services.

Aeroflot has filed a service increase on its Moscow Sheremetyevo to Shanghai Pudong route for the northern winter 2026/27 season, according to schedule data published by AeroRoutes on 26 August 2026. Overall service rises from seven to nine weekly flights, with the additional frequencies scheduled between 17 October and 23 November 2026.

The route is operated with the Boeing 777-300ER. Under the filed schedule, SU206 departs Sheremetyevo at 09:05 and arrives at Pudong at 23:05 on Saturdays and Sundays, while SU208 leaves at 19:45 and arrives at 09:45 the following morning on a daily basis. Northbound, SU207 departs Shanghai at 01:05 and lands in Moscow at 06:30 on Sundays and Mondays, and SU209 leaves at 11:45 and arrives at 16:45 daily.

The pattern is a familiar one in schedule planning: rather than adding a permanent frequency for the whole season, the carrier has layered two extra rotations onto a five-week window in late autumn. That is typically a demand-shaped decision, allowing an airline to test additional capacity without committing aircraft and crew for the full winter.

Equipment choice tells its own story. The 777-300ER remains the largest passenger type in the Aeroflot fleet, seating well over 350 passengers in the carrier's layouts, and it is the aircraft the airline has consistently assigned to its longest and highest-demand Asian sectors. Moscow to Shanghai is roughly 6,800km, comfortably within the type's range but long enough that a widebody is the natural fit.

China has become an increasingly central market for Russian carriers as network options elsewhere have narrowed, and Moscow to Shanghai is one of the denser city pairs between the two countries. Both Aeroflot and Chinese carriers, including China Eastern, serve the route, and additional frequencies on either side tend to reflect competitive positioning as much as raw demand.

Schedule filings of this kind are provisional by nature. Airlines routinely adjust, extend or withdraw seasonal frequencies as the season approaches, and a filing published in August for an October start is best read as a statement of intent rather than a fixed commitment. Aeroflot has not published a separate announcement about the increase.

For spotters and frequent flyers, the practical effect is straightforward: for five weeks in October and November, there will be two more 777-300ER rotations a week between Sheremetyevo and Pudong than the base schedule provides.
