Aeromexico is adding two new Caribbean destinations from Mexico City International Airport (AICM/MEX) for Northern Summer 2027, putting Montego Bay, Jamaica, and Nassau, Bahamas, on the SkyTeam carrier’s schedule for the first time.
According to schedule filings reported by AeroRoutes on September 24, Mexico City–Montego Bay is listed from March 18, 2027, three times weekly on the Boeing 737 MAX 8. Mexico City–Nassau follows from March 19, 2027, also three times weekly on the same type. Aviacionline, citing the airline’s Caribbean growth plans, says the two routes add more than 4,000 weekly seats to Aeromexico’s Caribbean network from AICM.
The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism destination site confirms tickets are already on sale for the Nassau service beginning March 19, 2027, describing the link as new nonstop Aeromexico flying into the Bahamas. AeroRoutes’ timetable extract shows Montego Bay rotations as AM758/AM759 and Nassau as AM740/AM741 on 737-8 equipment, with sample Mexico City morning departures and afternoon returns.
Both city pairs sit in the leisure-heavy Caribbean corridor that Mexican carriers have been probing as U.S. and Canadian ultra-low-cost capacity reshuffles. Montego Bay gives Mexico City a Jamaica gateway that is otherwise typically reached via U.S. hubs or Cancun connections, while Nassau extends Aeromexico into the Bahamas alongside competing U.S. legacy and leisure flying from Florida and the Northeast.
Aeromexico’s mainline narrowbody workhorse for these sectors is the Boeing 737 MAX 8, configured for denser short- and medium-haul flying rather than the airline’s long-haul widebody product. Three-weekly frequencies match a classic seasonal leisure pattern: enough to build a schedule bank without committing daily metal before demand is proven through the first summer season.
The filings place both routes in the NS27 season window rather than as one-off charter lines, which matters for connection planning over Mexico City. Passengers from provincial Mexican cities that feed AICM can, in principle, reach Jamaica or the Bahamas on a single Aeromexico ticket once the flights start, subject to minimum connection times and baggage through-check rules on the day of travel.
Capacity math from Aviacionline’s “more than 4,000 weekly seats” figure lines up with two three-weekly 737 MAX 8 rotations if typical Aeromexico MAX 8 seating is assumed in the mid-160s. Exact cabin layouts were not restated in the September schedule notes; travelers should check Aeromexico’s booking engine for the active configuration on each flight number before ticketing.
For Jamaica and the Bahamas, the Mexico City nonstops also create a Latin American alternative to Miami, Atlanta, or Toronto funnels. That is strategically useful if Aeromexico wants outbound Mexican leisure traffic and inbound Caribbean visitors without depending on a U.S. connection bank for every itinerary.
Whether the three-weekly pattern holds through an entire summer will depend on load factors, hotel contracts, and tour-operator support on both islands. For now, the schedule data and destination-marketing confirmation agree on March 2027 starts, Boeing 737 MAX 8 equipment, and Mexico City as the sole Mexican origin named in the filings reviewed for this article.
Aeromexico has not, in the sources reviewed here, announced matching Caribbean frequencies from Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA). The story remains an AICM-centric Caribbean add for Summer 2027, and any later AIFA mirror would be a separate network decision.
