LAX Oneworld Business Lounge Reopens After Major Refresh β€” Capacity Jumps To 570 Guests With Skylight And Coastal Design

The Oneworld Business Class Lounge at Los Angeles International Airport's Tom Bradley International Terminal has reopened after its first major refresh in nearly 12 years, lifting maximum capacity to 570 premium passengers and trading its dated mid-century aesthetic for a brighter California Coastal interior. Qantas, British Airways and Cathay Pacific β€” the three carriers that jointly operate the facility β€” confirmed the reopening this week as the LAX gateway prepares for its busiest summer transpacific season on record.

The redesigned lounge features new flooring, paint, timber feature walls and a newly cut skylight in the dining area that floods the space with natural daylight β€” long a complaint of premium travellers who found the previous interior dim and tunnel-like. Seating has been reconfigured with more sofas, lounge chairs and power outlets, while the bar and dining areas have been expanded to handle peak evening rotations when up to a dozen long-haul flights depart within a single boarding window.

Who runs it and who gets in

The lounge is a joint investment of Qantas, British Airways and Cathay Pacific, with Qantas leading design and on-the-ground operations. It serves all Oneworld member airlines flying long-haul from LAX's Tom Bradley International Terminal β€” including Iberia, Japan Airlines, Fiji Airways, Royal Jordanian and, on the same level, Qantas itself.

Open daily from 6:30 AM until midnight, the lounge is available to passengers holding a same-day international Business Class boarding pass on a Oneworld member airline, as well as Oneworld Sapphire and Emerald elites travelling in any cabin. Qantas Gold, British Airways Silver and Cathay Pacific Diamond / Marco Polo Gold members all qualify, regardless of fare class. First Class passengers continue to use the adjacent Qantas First Class Lounge on the same level.

What's new on the menu and on the floor

Other upgrades introduced as part of the refresh include barista-made espresso service, an expanded buffet with hot Pan-Asian and Mediterranean stations, a refreshed children's family zone and additional shower suites with restocked amenity kits. A redesigned bar at the entrance now anchors the social heart of the lounge, while quiet work pods near the windows give business travellers a dedicated zone with airside tarmac views.

The LAX lounge is one of just three Oneworld-branded business lounges worldwide β€” the others being in Santiago and Doha β€” and is the busiest single Oneworld lounge in the network, handling more than half a million premium passengers each year.

The Tom Bradley refresh comes as US carriers including American Airlines and Alaska Airlines (a newer Oneworld member) continue to ramp up transatlantic and transpacific premium capacity from the West Coast, putting fresh pressure on the alliance's flagship LAX hub. Industry analysts say the refurbished space will be a significant differentiator for Oneworld in the LAX premium market, where rivals SkyTeam and Star Alliance both operate competing flagship lounges in adjacent terminals.
