Singapore Airlines has removed all future Airbus A380 flights on Singapore–Dubai and Singapore–Hong Kong, Simple Flying reported on 31 August 2026 from the latest OAG and Cirium Diio schedule filings. The superjumbo will no longer be deployed from Singapore Changi Airport to Dubai International or Hong Kong International. Further changes may still appear in later filings.
No Singapore Airlines route has seen as many equipment and date changes recently as Singapore–Dubai, Simple Flying wrote, because of the war in Iran. In February 2026, before the war started, the carrier had planned the 471-seat A380 on the route from the end of March. That was pushed to May, then October, then the end of March 2027. In the latest update, all future A380 flights to Dubai have been taken out. The route is currently unserved. Flights are due to resume on 25 October 2026 on a 303-seat Airbus A350-900. A 264-seat Boeing 777-300ER with a first-class cabin is due to take over on 28 March 2027 for the summer season.
For April 2027, Simple Flying listed daily SQ494 departing Singapore at 2:40 p.m. and arriving Dubai at 6:00 p.m. local, and SQ495 departing Dubai at 7:45 p.m. and arriving Singapore at 7:30 a.m. the next day. Both flights had been planned as A380s and are now shown as 777-300ERs.
Singapore Airlines has flown the A380 to Hong Kong for years. Simple Flying said the type first appeared there in 2009 and ran on a more or less daily year-round basis, including a twice-daily stretch that last occurred in October 2016. The sector is 1,379 nautical miles (2,554 km). In 2025 and 2026 the 471-seater operated only two months each year; in 2026 that was June and July. The latest filing also removes the planned June–July 2027 A380 peak. One result, Simple Flying wrote, is that Hong Kong would then have a single A380 operator in 2027: Emirates.
Remaining Singapore–Hong Kong flying in July 2027 is shown as a mix of A350-900s, a Boeing 787-10 and a 777-300ER. SQ892 from Singapore at 9:50 a.m. and SQ893 from Hong Kong at 3:40 p.m., which had been the A380 pair, are now listed as 777-300ERs. Other daily flights keep A350-900 or 787-10 equipment.
For April–July 2027, as of 31 August and subject to change, Singapore Airlines now plans six A380 routes from Changi: Delhi (daily until 19 June, then again from 25 July), Frankfurt daily, London Heathrow twice daily, Mumbai daily until 24 July, Shanghai Pudong daily only from 20 June to 24 July, and Sydney twice daily. Auckland and Melbourne A380s are listed only in the northern winter. Until this update the airline had planned 969 A380 departures from Singapore in that April–July window. Taking Dubai and Hong Kong out cuts that by 13 percent to 847, which Simple Flying said would leave Singapore Airlines the world’s fourth-largest A380 user by flights, down from third.
