Transavia France plans a new seasonal winter link from Paris Orly to Kajaani, Finland, with once-weekly Airbus A320neo flights from 12 December 2026 through 20 March 2027, AeroRoutes reported on 18 September after the schedule appeared in booking systems and complementary French trade coverage outlined the leisure pitch.
Flight TO7940 is timed to leave Orly at 07:50 and arrive Kajaani at 12:20, with return TO7941 departing Kajaani at 13:30 and landing Orly at 16:05, operating on Saturdays with neo metal. AeroRoutes notes the Finland market had not previously been covered on its pages for Transavia France, marking Kajaani as a net-new Nordic leisure destination for the Air France-KLM low-cost unit rather than a frequency tweak on an existing city.
French trade press earlier outlined the same winter concept: weekly Orly–Kajaani flying for the 2026–27 season with introductory one-way fares from about €45, positioning the Finnish Lakes region and Lapland gateway as a northern-lights and winter-sports product rather than a business shuttle. That framing fits Transavia’s leisure network, which mixes sun destinations with seasonal adventure cities that fill weekends better than midweek corporate demand.
Kajaani sits in east-central Finland, giving Orly-origin passengers a single-aircraft hop into a region that usually requires a Helsinki connection on Finnair or a long surface transfer after a capital arrival. For Transavia, the route tests whether French leisure demand will fill an A320neo on a cold-weather Saturday rotation without the year-round frequencies that denser Nordic capitals such as Helsinki, Stockholm or Oslo can support on their own traffic.
Aircraft choice matters commercially. The A320neo’s range and seat-mile economics suit a roughly three-and-a-half-hour sector from Orly while keeping the airplane in Transavia’s standard short- and medium-haul pool. A single weekly frequency also limits exposure if bookings underperform: the carrier can trim or extend the season without parking a dedicated Finland-based aircraft or stranding crews in Kajaani between turns.
Alongside the Finland launch, TourMaG reported that Transavia will temporarily boost Orly–Salerno flying in November 2026—up to eleven weekly flights—while Naples Airport works disrupt normal Campania access. That parallel move shows how the winter schedule mixes opportunistic leisure cities with construction-driven substitution, not only pure route openings that chase tourism boards’ marketing calendars.
For Finnish tourism boards and Kajaani Airport, a direct Paris flight is a rare western-Europe leisure feed outside Helsinki and a chance to sell lake-district and Lapland packages without forcing every guest through the capital. For Air France-KLM’s low-cost arm, it is another data point on how far north Transavia can push seasonal A320neo flying before yields thin out against hotel, transfer and weather risk.
Bookings and load factors through the first Saturdays of December will decide whether Kajaani becomes a recurring winter fixture or a one-season experiment. If the neo fills, Transavia may add dates or a second weekly in later winters; if not, the airplane simply returns to sun routes—the low-cost carrier’s usual way of testing cold-weather edges without locking in year-round Baltic basing.
Travel agents packaging Finnish winter breaks now have a Paris origin that skips the usual Helsinki connection, which could matter for families and short-break travelers who dislike backtracking through the capital on both ends of a long weekend.
