Air China is stepping up its presence on one of Asia's busiest leisure corridors, filing plans to add a third daily flight between Beijing Capital International Airport and Bangkok Suvarnabhumi for the Northern winter 2026/27 season. The additional frequency begins on 25 October 2026 and will be flown with the Boeing 737 MAX 8.
The new rotation is numbered CA885/886. Under the filed schedule, CA885 departs Beijing Capital at 09:20 and arrives in Bangkok at 13:40, while the return CA886 leaves Bangkok at 15:15 and reaches Beijing at 21:00. It joins Air China's existing Beijing Capital–Bangkok flights, which are operated with larger widebody equipment including the Boeing 777 and the Airbus A330.
The Star Alliance member is not limiting the growth to its main Beijing hub. Air China has also separately moved to add one daily service between Beijing Daxing International Airport and Bangkok Suvarnabhumi, likewise operated by the Boeing 737 MAX 8, from the same 25 October start date. Together, the two additions expand the airline's Beijing–Bangkok capacity across both of the Chinese capital's major airports.
Using the single-aisle 737 MAX 8 alongside its widebodies gives Air China flexibility to match capacity to demand across different times of day. The MAX 8 offers lower trip costs than a widebody, allowing the carrier to add frequency and choice on the route without necessarily flooding the market with seats.
Bangkok remains one of the most popular destinations for Chinese travellers, and carriers on both sides have been rebuilding schedules to Thailand as demand between the two countries continues to recover. Additional frequencies improve connectivity for both point-to-point leisure traffic and passengers connecting over Air China's Beijing hubs to points across its domestic and international network.
As always with forward schedule filings, the timings and aircraft assignments could still be adjusted before the winter season begins.
