Air India is adding a new nonstop link between India and Canada, filing plans to launch a Mumbai–Toronto Pearson service with the Boeing 777-300ER at the start of the Northern winter 2026/27 season. The route begins on 25 October 2026 and will operate three times weekly, giving the carrier a second widebody gateway into the Canadian market alongside its existing Delhi service.
According to schedule filings, the outbound flight AI193 is set to leave Mumbai at 04:00 and reach Toronto at 10:00 local time. The return, AI192, departs Toronto at 12:30 and arrives back in Mumbai at 14:10 the following day. Both legs are operated nonstop by the Boeing 777-300ER, Air India's largest twin-engine widebody and the aircraft it typically deploys on its longest ultra-long-haul sectors.
The new Mumbai service is not the only change on Air India's Canadian network. The airline has also filed updated equipment for its Delhi–Toronto Pearson operation during the same winter season. The three-times-weekly AI189/190 rotation is scheduled to resume on 2 September 2026, operating as a Delhi–Vienna–Toronto–Delhi routing. From 1 January 2027, that service is planned to switch from the 777-300ER to the smaller Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.
Toronto is one of the largest markets in the Indian diaspora, and nonstop capacity between the two countries has long been a competitive battleground. A direct Mumbai–Toronto flight removes the need for connections over Europe or the Gulf for travellers in western India, and complements the Delhi gateway that has anchored Air India's Canadian presence.
The expansion reflects the wider international build-out Air India has pursued since returning to the Tata Group in January 2022. The airline has been steadily adding long-haul frequencies and destinations as it renews and grows its widebody fleet, with the 777-300ER and 787-9 forming the backbone of its intercontinental operation.
As with any newly filed schedule, timings and equipment remain subject to change ahead of the winter season, and the Mumbai–Toronto service will be bookable once loaded into Air India's reservation systems.
