Emirates has announced a major milestone in its post-disruption recovery, confirming that 96 percent of its global network has been restored as of early May 2026. The Dubai-based carrier now operates to 137 destinations across 72 countries, with more than 1,300 weekly frequencies β representing approximately 75 percent of its pre-disruption capacity.
The recovery marks a remarkable turnaround for an airline that was forced to significantly curtail operations earlier in 2026 due to airspace closures and elevated fuel costs across the Middle East region. Emirates has progressively resumed services across the Americas, Europe, Africa, West Asia, the Far East, and Australasia in recent weeks.
Among the most notable resumptions, Emirates has restarted flights to 16 global destinations this month, boosting capacity across key markets in Europe, the United States, and Asia. The carrier has also introduced a year-round direct service to Helsinki, Finland β strengthening its presence in the Nordic market and offering a new connection point for Northern European travelers.
The UAE itself confirmed the full resumption of air traffic operations on May 2, providing a critical foundation for Emirates' continued recovery. With Dubai's airspace now fully operational, the carrier has been able to accelerate its schedule rebuilding across all regions.
However, not all routes have returned. Flights to Baghdad, Basra, and Tehran remain suspended due to ongoing regional security concerns, and the Male-to-Colombo sector has also been temporarily removed from the network. The airline has indicated it will continue to evaluate these markets and resume service when conditions permit.
For passengers facing extended layovers during the rebuilding period, Emirates has expanded its Dubai Connect program, offering complimentary hotel accommodation at four or five-star properties, airport transfers, meals, and where necessary, UAE entry visas for customers with transit times between 6 and 26 hours.
Looking ahead, Emirates leadership has expressed confidence that the carrier is on track to become the world's most profitable airline by the end of 2026, despite the disruptions experienced in March and April. The airline's hub-and-spoke model through Dubai, combined with its premium product offering and the emirate's position as a global tourism and business destination, continue to drive strong demand across its restored network.
