Emirates Puts The A380 On Delhi Flights From October

Emirates will fly its flagship Airbus A380 to Delhi for the first time, putting the double-decker on the Dubai–Delhi route from 25 October 2026. The airline announced on 9 July 2026 that the A380 will operate flights EK512 and EK513, a rotation currently flown by its Boeing 777s.

The change makes Delhi the third Indian city on the A380 map, joining Mumbai and Bengaluru. From late October, customers on the route will be able to choose between the A380 and the 777, both offered in a four-class configuration, with the 777s continuing to operate flights EK511, EK515 and EK517.

India's pull on the Emirates network

Emirates has long treated India as one of its most important markets, and the carrier framed the A380 upgauge as a response to demand. "Emirates' long-standing commitment to India is reflected in the continued rollout of our latest products, designed to enhance the travel experience," said Adnan Kazim, Emirates' Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer. "We are pleased to introduce our highly anticipated A380 services to Delhi, a vital gateway in our network, from October."

Deploying the A380 on a route already served by the 777 is a capacity play as much as a product one. The superjumbo adds several hundred seats per rotation without requiring an additional slot pair at either end β€” a meaningful advantage at two airports where prime slots are scarce and demand between the Gulf and northern India runs hard through the winter season.

Premium Economy spreads across India

The Delhi announcement sits inside a broader product rollout. From October 2026, Emirates will offer Premium Economy on flights to six Indian cities: Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Kolkata and Kochi.

"We are also making our Premium Economy product more widely available across India to reach six gateways and close to half of our scheduled weekly flights," Kazim said. "A host of other service enhancements are in the pipeline as a testament to our partnership with India and commitment to our customers."

Kolkata gets its own upgrade in the same tranche. From 25 October 2026, the daily Emirates service between Kolkata and Dubai β€” flights EK570 and EK571 β€” will be operated by the airline's Airbus A350 instead of the Boeing 777. With flights EK572 and EK573 operating five times weekly on a four-class retrofitted 777, Premium Economy will be available across all 12 weekly flights between Kolkata and Dubai.

A second life for the superjumbo

Emirates remains by far the largest A380 operator in the world, and the type has proved unexpectedly durable in its network long after Airbus closed the production line. Rather than retiring the fleet early, the airline has poured money into refurbishing cabins and has kept hunting for routes where the aircraft's sheer size solves a slot-constrained capacity problem. Delhi is a textbook example of that logic.

The result, for passengers, is straightforward: from late October, one of the busiest Gulf–India corridors gains a daily double-decker, complete with the four-class cabin β€” and, increasingly, a Premium Economy seat that used to be one of the harder products in the Emirates fleet to actually book from India.
