United Extends Newark–Marrakech Flights to May 2027 on the Boeing 767-400ER

United Airlines has extended its Newark Liberty–Marrakech Menara schedule through 25 May 2027, according to an AeroRoutes filing update published on 13 October 2026. The Star Alliance carrier had previously listed the Moroccan leisure route only through 26 March 2027 on the US departure side; the new filing keeps three weekly Boeing 767-400ER flights running for another two months into the Northern summer season.

Three weekly 767-400ERs into late May

For the period from 27 March through 25 May 2027, United plans three weekly round trips. Westbound UA628 leaves Newark at 20:25 and arrives Marrakech at 08:00 the next morning. Eastbound UA627 departs Marrakech at 10:50 and reaches Newark at 15:30 the same day. Both legs are filed on the Boeing 767-400ER, United’s long-thin workhorse for several Atlantic leisure markets.

AeroRoutes’ Jim Liu flagged the change after comparing United’s latest schedule dump with the earlier March cutoff. Deep Arrival and other secondary reports repeating the same filing show the same May 25 end date and the same 767-400ER equipment, which matches United’s recent pattern of stretching successful seasonal Morocco flying rather than parking it at the IATA winter–summer hinge.

Why the extension matters

Newark–Marrakech is not a daily trunk. Three weekly widebodies already sit at the thin end of United’s transatlantic leisure map, so keeping the route alive past late March is a commercial signal that bookings into the Moroccan spring are holding up. Marrakech’s high season for European and North American visitors typically runs through spring; an early cutoff in March would have forced United to hand April and May traffic to competitors or to one-stop options via Europe.

The 767-400ER assignment is unchanged in the extension block. United has been concentrating that subfleet on Atlantic leisure city pairs where a 787 would be oversized and a narrowbody lacks the range or cabin. Passengers should still confirm the live booking path closer to departure, because United routinely swaps 767 variants inside a filed family, but the public filing itself is explicit about the -400ER for March–May.

What is not claimed

United has not, in the sources reviewed here, issued a separate consumer press release announcing the May extension. The story rests on schedule-filing analysis, which is how most mid-season route length changes surface. Frequency stays at three weekly; there is no move to daily service in the published block, and no aircraft upgauge to a 787 is filed for those dates.

For travellers already holding tickets after 26 March, the practical point is that United inventory now continues on the nonstop through late May. Anyone booked on a previously published last flight in March should check their PNR, because an airline-side schedule extension does not automatically rewrite every disrupted connecting itinerary sold under the old end date.

United already treats Marrakech as a seasonal leisure spoke rather than a year-round daily franchise, so the filing extension is the kind of quiet schedule surgery that rarely gets a flashy press kit. Still, for a three-weekly 767 operation, two extra months of flying is meaningful block-hour utilisation. It also keeps United’s Morocco product visible in New York–area search results through the spring shoulder, when competing one-stop options via Madrid, Paris or Frankfurt get noisier.

Schedule analysts watch EWR–RAK partly because United has been reshuffling Atlantic leisure city pairs as it absorbs more MAX and 787 metal elsewhere. Keeping the 767-400ER on Marrakech into May suggests the subfleet still has a role on thinner routes that do not justify a Dreamliner. If loads hold, a further extension beyond 25 May would be the next logical filing to watch; nothing in the 13 October update promises that yet.
